A series of digital matte paintings that reflect personal experiences as an immigrant in my younger years. I explored notions of alienation, isolation and home sickness at a surface level.
However, on a deeper level, the underlying discussions originate from our world's current political status, in particular, the immigrant and refugee crisis. My illustrations are not only intended to give something to connect to for immigrants and refugees, but to create a level of understanding of the hardships that especially children experience during migration, for the wider audience who have not been through such circumstances.
The aim of this project was to tell a short story through image by utilising processes of a concept designer to illustrate a world and establish settings with tension and emotion.
Inspired by Ralph McQuarrie and Simon Stalenhag.
